The Subaru Impreza is Now American-Made

The all-new 2017 Subaru Impreza will be built in the Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA), production has already begun, and thus the first-ever American-built Impreza rolled out of the plant. Historically, the Impreza was produced only in Japan, but it’s popularity in the U.S. grew; eight consecutive years of increased Subaru sales in the U.S., as well as the high level of operational and production quality the plant has demonstrated over its nearly 30-year history. Subaru decided it was time to begin production in Indiana.

This has been a culmination of more than three years of preparation and emphasizes the growth in Subaru demand in the States. The positive economic impact is definitely clear in the investment Subaru made with the increase in production at SIA, the investment was $1.3 billion over the last four years. They also hired an additional 1,400 associates in the past year!

“In a time when some manufacturers are moving work out of the United States, we’re proud to be bringing Subaru Impreza production to the heartland of America,” said Tom Easter day, Senior Executive Vice President of SIA. “The move has allowed us to create hundreds of new jobs not only at SIA, but also at our suppliers in Indiana and across the country.”

The 2017 Subaru Impreza is the first vehicle built with the new Subaru Global Platform architecture designed to enhance safety, comfort, agility, and driving pleasure. It is available in sedan and 5-door models and it is equipped with the latest technologies such as driver assist, multimedia features and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. It will available in base, Premium, Sport, and Limited trim lines before the new year.

“As we continue our phenomenal growth across the country, Subaru is proud that drivers can now buy an all-new Subaru Impreza that is built in America,” said Thomas J. Doll, President and COO, Subaru of America, Inc. “We are looking forward to this new vehicle supporting our continued growth in 2017 and beyond.”

SIA will produce over 380,000 vehicles annually with the addition of the Impreza. SIA associates have already built nearly five million vehicles since they began producing vehicles in 1989, and they remain committed to quality, safety, and environmental stewardship. Because of all this, SIA has completed an expansion to help meet the needs of the growing production in its facility, which included a new paint shop and enlarging the engine assembly, trim, and final assembly, and stamping sections.

The all-new Impreza will be reaching us very soon, and we are very excited about it! For more information, you can stop by or contact us today.
