2024 Subaru Crosstrek
Overview
Subaru has built a reputation around rock-solid vehicles that can handle off-roading challenges while still remaining fun to drive on paved roads. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek continues that legacy with an all-wheel drive compact SUV that you’ll enjoy driving no matter where you head. It’s not the biggest or most powerful SUV on the road today, but that works in its favor.
Who's It For?
Adventurous family drivers who need extra seating for when they’re on carpool duty instead of out in the mud. It is affordable without sacrificing performance or style, unlike many other smaller SUVs on the market. On the fence about choosing between a sedan or a larger vehicle? The Crosstrek straddles these categories adeptly. You’ll feel like you’re behind the wheel of a sports-tuned car while enjoying the extra cargo space and seating of an SUV.

What's New For 2024?
This vehicle has received a complete redesign for 2024. Yet only diehard Subaru fans would notice most of the differences. It’s the first year that Subaru is offering the Crosstrek Wilderness, which improves off-road performance and boosts the ground clearance to over 9 inches. A 10% stiffer chassis design may not sound like the biggest change, but you’ll feel the difference in every turn and quick stop.
The 11-inch Starlink information center is also now available for the Crosstrek. Manual transmission options have been dropped in favor of the Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission becoming standard on all trim levels. Other than that, the 2024 is largely the same as the previous year’s model. Roof rails and fold-down back seats remain standard to boost your cargo-hauling options.
Real World Performance
Built for the asphalt as much as the dirt road, the Subaru Crosstrek features a base 2.0-liter engine that produces 152 horsepower. If you want more performance, there’s a 2.5-liter engine upgrade that puts out 182 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque instead. The CVT system that is standard on all trim packages favors the automatic driver while maximizing fuel efficiency.
Hill-starting control and hill descent assistance ensure that slopes won’t cause you any trouble. These features alone may make this the ideal SUV for people living in certain areas and cities known for its steeply sloped street parking spots. Despite being built for all-wheel driving, the ride is soft and quiet on all sorts of roads. The symmetrical all-wheel drive has multiple drive modes so you get the right amount of traction and power for city roads or other surfaces. This makes it a worthwhile commute and carpooling car even for city dwellers. It’s also packed with the latest Subaru driver assistance technology.
Wilderness
For those who know the excitement begins when the pavement ends, the Crosstrek Wilderness was made for you. Standard 17-inch off-road wheels with all-terrain tires are just the beginning. Of course, the Crosstrek Wilderness comes with the more powerful 2.5-liter engine and Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive for premium traction and performance. A lower final-drive ratio gives the Crosstrek Wilderness exceptional performance during low-speed climbing and 9.3 inches of ground clearance means you can go further than ever.
