Back To School Carpool Tips
Kids are heading back to school. For many of us the routine of the past summer, or even the last year will start to look different. Our calendars are starting to fill up with school and extra-curricular activities which means your car pooling days are back! Here are some tips and tricks on how to make your time in the car the best part of your day.
It’s Time to Wake-Up!
Get your endorphins flowing to start your day off with some upbeat music. Here are just a few songs from the Spotify playlist “Good Mornings – Happily Positive Music to Start the Day”
- Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles
- Beautiful Day – U2
- Happy – Pharrell Williams
- Walking on Sunshine – Katrina & The Waves
- Bill Withers – A Lovely Day
Carpool Karaoke – Back to School Edition
Who says only James Corden and his celebrity guests can get in on the carpool game? Get your playlist together – or even use the one mentioned above and put everyone’s vocals to the test. Set your playlist to random and have each passenger take a turn. You can mix it up and have themed days like “Holiday Music”, the “Billboard 100”, “Boy Bands”, etc.
Don’t You Say It!
This is a great game for all ages. There’s not much to it and the rules are simple. One person determines a single word that cannot be said by any passenger the entire ride. For example, “school” can be the word and whoever says the word on the ride, loses and has to say why they love their brother or sister. Depending on the word, this game can last the entire ride or you could be playing a few rounds. We’ll help get you started, make the first word “Mom” or “Dad”!
Improv Story Time
This improv game will get your gang collaborating and firing up their frontal cortex. Start with a story title (i.e. Best Christmas Ever). The story is then told with each person in the car adding 1 sentence to the story. Take it a step further and pick the story back up after school.
HANGRY Passengers
When school dismisses and you’re picking up your little scholars, you often find them in a different state than you left them that morning. The excitement and work of the day has taken its toll and everyone is due for an afternoon recharge. Keeping snacks and bottles of water on hand can be the afternoon pick-me up that everyone needs.
