Looking Ahead: What’s Coming from Subaru in 2022

It’s hard to believe that 2021 is almost gone. As a brand that’s always looking to the future, Subaru has some big plans for what the next year has in stock. From redesigns to amazing news, there are so many great things to be excited about from Subaru in 2022.

New BRZ

The BRZ will get its most dramatic update yet. For 2022, Subaru has completely redesigned its affordable sports car. The exterior isn't the only change, however. Power will increase from 205 horsepower to 228. This may not sound like much, but in such a small car, that's significant. That power increase is thanks to an all-new Boxer engine. The suspension has also been retuned to accompany the more rigid chassis and the upgraded transmission will offer smoother, more precise shifting.

Updated WRX

"Updated" isn't a strong enough word. The WRX will also be all-new for 2022. The exterior changes aren't as dramatic as the BRZ, but they're still very noticeable. The honeycomb front grille and high wheel wells give the WRX a dominating presence. A new turbocharged four-cylinder engine powers the WRX and upgraded handling has this model poised to succeed in rally driving as well as demanding street use.

Entering the EV Segment

Subaru is finally entering the EV segment with the 2023 Solterra. It's clear that Subaru took its time, designing a reliable, high-performance electric SUV that can appeal to many types of drivers.
